Photovoltaic glass, also known as photovoltaic glass, is a special type of glass with power generation capabilities that converts solar energy directly into electricity. With the development of sustainable energy technologies, photovoltaic glass is becoming a new favorite in the construction industry and new energy sectors. How Photovoltaic Glass Works

Due to these advantages, photovoltaic glass is increasingly being used:

  • Architecture: Used in building curtain walls, skylights, sunrooms, and other applications, making it a key material for building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV).
  • Transportation: Used in solar-powered car sunroofs and train windows, powering internal vehicle devices.
  • Smart Home: As part of smart windows, it provides power for small devices such as sensors and motorized curtains.

The Difference Between PV Module Backsheet Glass and Photovoltaic Glass

Users may confuse photovoltaic glass and photovoltaic module backsheet glass. In reality, the two types of glass have completely different functions. Photovoltaic module backsheet glass protects the back of the photovoltaic module and is typically tempered or semi-tempered. Its primary functions are mechanical support, electrical insulation, and moisture protection. For example, our photovoltaic module backsheet glass has a high reflectivity (at least 75% in the 380-1100nm range), which helps improve the overall efficiency of the photovoltaic module.

Photovoltaic glass itself is a power generation device, a composite glass product with integrated photovoltaic cells.

As technology matures and costs decrease, photovoltaic glass will play a more important role in future construction and energy sectors, providing cities with sustainable green electricity and helping to achieve carbon neutrality.
